Thank you in advance, and hope it's o.k. to post this! I found what I'm pretty sure is a PM Samantha at the thrift store for 4.50 today.

I have one Samantha that was purchased new from AG around 1998, 1999. The Samantha I purchased from AG has the words Pleasant Company on the neck, with the circled C to the left of the P, and the mark behind the ear.

The doll I purchased today has Pleasant Company on the neck, the circled C ABOVE the P, and the mark behind the ear. The doll I purchased today has a slightly thinner face in comparison to the Samantha I already had. Her hair looks curlier, and a bit shorter. It definitely looks like Samantha though. The doll I purchased today has no body tag, tan body and a string from the neck. Wasn't wearing original clothes, but for 4.50 I can't complain. <g>

Anyway, comments? Is the second doll an earlier version, just a slightly different version, or what? Thank you!

She sounds exactly like my pre-Mattel Samantha. My Sam's hair is REALLY REALLY curly (which was why I wanted one of the older dolls), she has the Pleasant company logo on her head with the mark behind her ear, long strings and no body tag.

ETA - based on what the seller told me, I believe my Sam is from 1993-1995.

YOU GOT AN UNREAL DEAL, my friend!

I put the Samantha I found yesterday against my older daughter's PM Samantha - the hair looks to be about the same color. The one I found yesterday might be ever so slightly lighter, but not much. Her hair definitely looks curlier than the Samantha we already had. I was trying to remember when I bought Samantha for my older daughter - it would have been around 1997-1999, or thereabouts, so this one was apparently from just earlier. I did rather feel like I'd hit the jackpot when I picked up that doll yesterday. <g> I think I'm going to poke around that store the next few days in the hope that maybe a few outfits will appear as well.
